My daughter is a sophomore at Wheaton and she loves it here!
My daughter is a sophomore here. She's in the bio-magnet program, and she's had a pretty good experience. She has had to work very hard, but most of her teachers have been quite good. Participating in sports (track and soccer) has helped her acclimate. The kids at Wheaton are a diverse bunch, with a lot of talent. It's nice to see at the annual concert the dance, music and performing groups really shine. The kids are really beautiful to watch. School administrators have been helpful and responsive. They want the kids, all the kids to succeed, and they are willing to help them. I will say the music program is disappointing. My daughter has not enjoyed music at all, and she really loves to play. Very frustrating.
As soon as I began going to this school, there were many rumors saying there were gangs ,fights ,and smoking. But the thing is, that happens naturally in every single school. As it took me a year to witness it, it isn't as bad as it seems.Sometimes you just got to explore and find out for yourself.Like they always say, "You can't judge a book based on its cover".Wheaton may had some old flaws out of it but if you take a look into it you will find yourself in a cultural diversity filled with people that shows love and positivity. And the great thing is,we got a fresh new start of 2016 with a new building. After all, even if it wasn't reconstructed....it was still the best school I have ever went.It turned my old thinking into something different. In high school, there are many possibilities, opportunities, etc. All you have to do is get yourself open minded and involved with things. Some criticize the teachers just cause they don't cooperate with students well. But the question is.....do the students cooperate well? That's the issue. Some of us in our society won't take an advantage to be independent and take responsibility. All of my teachers I have been with since freshman year were good, i just didn't take the time to realize that before freshman year started, because all of us mostly mess up freshman year. There is no bullying throughout this school. It is well diversed. So if anyone that say this school really sucks, then you guys aren't just trying harder for yourself.I begin to finish my last year in this school, filled with lots of love and compassion, and it was the best four years that I could ever ask for because that's where I found 2 of the most amazing people i knew there. After all, even though we may had a school that was trashy and small, at least we all easily got to know most of each other through crowded stairs and hallways on the first floor. This is just my opinion,my voice. And if I ever had kids that were starting high school, i would recommend them coming here.Because this school is a great environment to be in and there is no awful teacher in this school that shows love to their students. Go Knights
Like most institutions, both high school and college, your experience is based off of the effort you put forth. From playing multiple varsity sports, talking in front of the Board of Ed, being in the Bioscience Academy, etc, I can only point out positives from the school. The teachers are there to help guide you and give you support in anything you do. They work hard to see you succeed. The high school is diverse. With a diverse setting, you're going to get a diverse and comfortable learning environment where we are encouraged to share our ideas or opinions which enables us to think in ways we thought weren't possible. I only have great things to say about this school. It was an amazing four years filled with amazing friends, driven teachers, and countless experiences. This school is a hidden gem.
This school will make your kid great again. Believe me. This school has wonderful people. Absolutely tremendous people. The magnet program is fantastic. These are words that I wholly believe in, and in conclusion the previous reviewer Bilal is wrong. 11/10 would fail senior year again to stay in the school.
